St. Edwards Church, York, Benefits from Modern AV Installation

St. Edwards Church in York has recently undergone a comprehensive AV installation, significantly enhancing its audio-visual capabilities and improving the experience for both clergy and congregation. The project focused on upgrading the church’s existing system with modern, high-performance equipment to deliver superior picture quality and increased flexibility.

A key element of the upgrade was the replacement of the outdated VGA distribution system with a state-of-the-art Kramer HDMI over DGKAT 6 distribution system. This new system feeds five large-screen TVs strategically placed throughout the church, providing a noticeably clearer and more vibrant picture for viewers.

The installation also included a Maxone PTZ camera and camera controller, providing the church with enhanced options for capturing and broadcasting services and events.

Recognizing the need for a dedicated preview monitor for the priest, we commissioned Quadra AV to create a custom-built wooden cabinet. This bespoke cabinet houses a Samsung 22″ monitor at a comfortable low level and is fitted with wheels, allowing for easy movement and storage when not in use. This thoughtful design ensures both functionality and discreetness within the church environment.

To further enhance connectivity, a Kramer HDMI over CAT 6 wall plate was installed at the front of the church. This allows presenters to easily connect their laptops and display presentations on the church’s screens, facilitating engaging and dynamic presentations.

The existing wooden cabinet at the rear of the church was cleverly repurposed. We re-used the existing Kramer scaler and integrated a Kramer 1 in 8 out HDMI distribution amplifier, along with six HDMI over CAT6 senders and a Kramer HDMI over CAT6 receiver. This receiver is connected to the wall plate at the front of the church, enabling seamless signal transmission and distribution.

This comprehensive AV upgrade has provided St. Edwards Church with a modern, reliable, and versatile system that will serve their needs for years to come. The enhanced picture quality, flexible connectivity options, and thoughtful design elements contribute to a more engaging and enriching experience for all.

Audio Visual Installs York

As part of the comprehensive AV upgrade, a key focus was enhancing the church’s CCTV capabilities. The existing fixed camera, which provided a static view of the altar on all TV screens throughout the church and in the main hall, was identified as an area for improvement.

To address this, we replaced the fixed unit with a state-of-the-art Maxone Pan & Tilt high-definition dome camera, paired with a user-friendly PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) controller. Installed in the same location as the original camera, this upgrade provides a significant increase in flexibility and control.

The new system empowers church staff to remotely adjust the camera’s position, allowing them to focus on any specific area at the front of the church. This dynamic capability ensures that viewers can clearly see and engage with all activities, from sermons and musical performances to special ceremonies, providing a more immersive and engaging experience for the congregation. The high-definition quality further enhances the viewing experience, delivering crisp and clear images on all connected screens.
